Ms. Chatfield worked with Georgia Tech on the development of the Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain (SLS) beginning in August 2014 as the Project Management consultant, when SLS was selected as the Institute’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).  Beginning in December 2015, she was hired as the Program and Operations Manager for SLS. Serve-Learn-Sustain (SLS) is a campus-wide academic initiative preparing students to use their disciplinary expertise to “create sustainable communities” in partnership with community, nonprofit, business, and academic stakeholders.

She transitioned to the Program and Operations Manager for the Center for Sustainable Communities Research and Education (SCoRE) when that Center moved over to the Brook Byers Institute for Sustainable Systems in 2023, where she was responsible for all operational and financial logistics for the Center.  In addition, she coordinated all student facing programs, specifically the Sustainable Communities Summer Internship Program, and the Student Fellows Program.  Ms. Chatfield also served on the leadership team for RCE Greater Atlanta – a Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development - officially acknowledged in 2017 by the United Nations University, with a special focus on youth engagement. She also served on the Steering Committee for the RCE Americas.

In her current role, Ms. Chatfield serves as the Director, Business Administration for the Brook Byers Institute for Sustainable Systems (BBISS), overseeing all administrative operations and finances for BBISS.  BBISS is a key Georgia Tech hub for interdisciplinary sustainability research and education, which prioritizes creating linkages between researchers in all disciplines towards the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals. BBISS supports interdisciplinary teams in obtaining high-impact research and education grants. Their primary focus areas are climate science, solutions, and policy; ecosystem and environmental health; sustainable cities and infrastructure; sustainable resource and material use; just sustainable development; and the economics and business of sustainability.

Before coming to Georgia Tech, Ms. Chatfield worked as an independent project management consultant. Earlier in her career, she specialized in healthcare marketing and management before making the transition to other industries.  Ms. Chatfield received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia, and has also completed the Project Management Certificate program through Georgia Tech Professional Education.
