About SCoRE
The Center for Sustainable Communities Research and Education (SCoRE) engages faculty, students, and staff in long-term, strategic research and education collaborations with community partners, focusing on sustainability in the Atlanta region, the state of Georgia, and the Southeast.
What We Do
We have four primary areas of work:
Community-engaged Sustainability Research
Supporting projects that engage community partners as experts and co-PIs and aim to achieve concrete and meaningful outcomes that advance social equity. Our key partners in this work at Georgia Tech are the sustainability cluster of Interdisciplinary Research Institutes (IRIs): the Brook Byers Institute for Sustainable Systems (BBISS), the Renewable Bioproducts Institute (RBI), and the Strategic Energy Institute (SEI).
Community-engaged Sustainability Education
Integrating community partnerships into sustainability-focused courses and professional development programs. Our educational programs build on the work that we started in our previous incarnation as the Center for Serve-Learn-Sustain.
Strategic Community Partnerships
Nurturing long-term partnerships between Georgia Tech and organizations that advance community-driven social and environmental change.
Thought Leadership
Sharing lessons learned and ensuring that our community engagement and sustainability work remains on the cutting edge.
