The SCEFA training program is a regional leadership and education initiative designed to:
- Co-design and deliver practical, action-oriented training on emerging energy transition technologies;
- Increase local capacity to engage with these emerging technologies - from research to deployment; and
- Develop a sustained community of practice where local leaders and technical experts collaboratively shape the future of the energy transition in the Southeast (see detailed goals and outcomes at the end of this overview).
The program is part of the SEDAC (Southeast Direct Air Capture) project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and led by the Southern States Energy Board (SSEB). It is led by Georgia Tech’s Center for Sustainable Communities Research and Education (SCoRE), with technical support provided by Georgia Tech’s Direct Air Capture Center (DirACC) and Renewable Bioproducts Institute, as well as SSEB and the SEDAC team, and with additional contributions from other experts across the country, including The Institute for Responsible Carbon Removal at American University.
