During the fall semester, SLS issued a call for student organizations interested in partnering with us for the 2016-2017 academic year, specifically seeking student organizations focused on environmental, social, or economic sustainability; social justice; and/or cultural diversity. Student organization applicants were also encouraged to tie their organization’s mission or work to our four themes for the year: Environmental Justice, FEWS (Food, Energy, Water Systems), Smart Cities, and Social Sustainability.
SLS is pleased to announce that we approved partnerships with 19 student organizations and awarded mini-grants to those organizations that requested funding during the application process! We held our first informational meeting towards the end of the fall semester, attended by representatives from each partner organization. This spring, SLS will hold its first Student Advisory Board meeting, with each partner organization selecting a representative to attend and provide input on SLS’ strategic initiatives for the upcoming academic year.
SLS is working closely with our partner organizations to plan and promote events, make connections with community and industry partners, GT alumnae, and on-campus partners, and provide additional support as needed. Students engaged with our partner organizations also receive invitations to participate in exclusive SLS activities bringing together faculty, staff, students, and partners, such as showcases, field trips, conferences, and special sessions with guest speakers.
Congratulations to our partner organizations – we are honored to have you as part of the SLS family! We would love to broaden our list of student organization partners. Please apply!
